My artwork embodies the possibility of sublime experience and metaphorical rebirth—a reconnection to or resurgence of one’s existence. The sound of thunder, the pages of my science books, and vast volcanic landscapes, where it as if I have felt the body and beginnings of the earth, make me feel alive. I embrace the symbolic power I feel through science, the epic natural world, bodily rhythms, and those of Renaissance, Baroque, and Romantic Art. Using the elements of the earth to make visual as well as physical manifestations of my mind, my drawings and paintings feel like fossilized experiences—which function together as symphonies to science, history, and cycles of the soul.
